The patented ExtraPhos processes uses carbon dioxide to lower the pH of sewage sludge and re-dissolve phosphate. The product is a phosphate fertiliser suitable for agricultural use.

The only raw product used is carbon dioxide, which can be recycled. No additional thermal energy is needed.

A mobile test plant is being implemented at the Mainz-Mombach sewage treatment plant to provide the basis for large-scale implementation.
