European Commission to pursue Ireland over wastewater failings

  • News

The European Commission is taking Ireland to the European Court of Justice for failing to upgrade wastewater treatment infrastructure in 38 agglomerations. The agglomerations include the city of Cork, Killarney, Shannon, Waterford and Roscommon. The referral also highlights concerns about the failure to ensure a correct operating licence for treatment plants serving two further agglomerations.
