Resource recovery

Municipal sewage and industrial effluent receives treatment with a core aim of avoiding harm to the aquatic environment by the release of contaminated water. Awareness is growing of the opportunities to look beyond this core aim, especially at the potential for recovering substances from the water. These opportunities include the recovery of nutrients such as phosphate.
