Municipal water supply and treatment

Municipal water suppliers draw on water resources, typically surface water and groundwater, and then treat it to achieve drinking water quality, ready for supply to homes and for other uses. Other sources include seawater, requiring desalination, and water reclaimed from sewage treatment for reuse.
